People working within the care sector are among the groups who are being invited to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) the regulatory body for social service workers.

The dates for the opening of each part of the register for workers in care home services for adults are:

Managers – January 2006
Supervisors- October 2007
Practitioners- January 2009
Support Workers- April 2009

At the moment workers are being invited to register with the SSSC as a date has not been set by the Scottish Government by which all workers must be registered.
